Clear the small stuff
We move and cover furniture, but the things that slow a job down are small and personal: photos and art on the walls, items on shelves, anything on top of a dresser, curtains and rods. If you take those down and put them somewhere else in the house, the crew starts painting instead of packing.
Point out what matters
Tell us what you care about before we start, not after. The floor you do not want anything set on, the antique that should not be moved by anyone but you, the room the dog sleeps in, the wall with a repair you have been arguing with. Two minutes at the walkthrough saves a conversation nobody wants later.
Decide colors early
Color decisions made on day one hold the schedule. Made on day three, they stop it. If you are undecided, ask us to put samples up on the actual wall in the actual light during the estimate, and live with them for a couple of days before we start.
Plan for pets and parking
Doors open, ladders move, and drop cloths are not obstacles a curious dog respects. Have a plan for where pets will be. Same for parking: the crew needs to get materials from the truck to the door repeatedly, so a clear spot near the house speeds up the whole day.
Expect the prep to look worse before it looks better
Sanded patches, taped edges, and primer spots are not the finish, and day two of an interior job usually looks messier than day one. That is normal. If something genuinely concerns you, say so while we are there, because that is much easier than a call after the crew has gone.
