Wood Staining

Deck, Fence, and Wood Staining in Middle Tennessee

Decks, fences, and interior wood stained and sealed against sun, rain, and Tennessee humidity. Stain is a maintenance product, and doing it on schedule is cheaper than replacing boards.

Deck Staining and Sealing

A deck has to be clean and dry before stain goes anywhere near it, so we wash, let it dry properly, and sand rough or splintered boards. Stain soaks in rather than sitting on top, which is why prep matters even more than it does with paint: anything left on the surface blocks it. We also set popped fasteners and flag boards that are past saving.

Fence Staining

Fences are big surfaces that get ignored until they go grey. Cleaning and sealing a fence on a regular cycle keeps the wood from checking and cupping, and it costs a fraction of replacing panels. We treat both sides where access allows, because water does not only come from your yard.

Wood Staining and Finishing Indoors

Handrails, treads, mantels, and interior trim can be stained and clear coated rather than painted, and on good wood that is usually the better call. This is fussy, slow work, with sanding between coats and careful masking against walls, and it is worth doing properly on a staircase you use every day.

Why Sealing Matters Here

Middle Tennessee gives wood a hard time: humid summers, hard rain, and a lot of direct sun on south and west exposures. Unsealed wood absorbs water, swells, dries, and cracks. Sealing on a regular cycle is the whole difference between a deck you re-stain and a deck you rebuild.
