Every exterior we paint starts with a wash. Middle Tennessee humidity leaves mildew on north-facing walls and under deep eaves, and chalk builds up on older siding, and paint will not bond to either one. After the wash we scrape failing paint, replace split caulk rather than smearing over it, spot prime bare wood, and only then start putting color on.

We also watch the weather more closely than you would expect. Dew point and surface temperature decide whether a finish cures properly or hazes, so we schedule around them instead of pushing through a bad afternoon.

Siding, Soffits, and Fascia

Soffits and fascia take the worst of it. They sit in shade, hold moisture, and are the first place an exterior starts to fail, which is also why they are the first place a cheap job cuts corners. We prep and coat them to the same standard as the walls you actually see from the street, because that is what decides how long the whole job lasts.

Porches, Columns, and Metal Railing Painting

Porch ceilings, columns, beams, and metal railings all need different products, and putting the wrong one on a railing means rust bleeding through inside a year. Metal gets cleaned and primed for metal. Painted wood columns get sanded and sealed at the joints. Stained cedar beams get a penetrating finish, not a film that will peel.

Prep and Pressure Washing

Washing is not a formality. It is the step that decides whether the coat you are paying for stays stuck to the house. We wash, treat mildew where it is present, let surfaces dry properly, and check for soft or rotted substrate while we are up there. If paint will not fix what we find, we tell you at the estimate rather than after.
